We had the good fortune of making it out to the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance this year and we can report that it’s more than a little bit overwhelming. From Janis Joplin’s Porsche 356 to John Oates’ own 356 Emory Special, to a Horch the size of a bus, you could get whiplash from everything there is to look at.
It was a show of “the”s. This THE car Jacky Ickx won Le Mans in, THE car that introduced double-overhead cams to the world, THE Bentley once owned by Brian Johnson of AC/DC. At times surprising and always impressive, it was the Louvre of auto shows.
Here’s some of the coolest stuff we saw out on the fairway.
